____________
NEW FEATURES
1. Designed for all Windows NT platforms and
Windows 95 systems.
2. Uses built-in security for NT-based systems
and provides password security for systems
running Windows 95.
3. Allows for cross-remote viewing, control, and
communications between Windows NT and Windows 95.
4. Allows remote log on and log off of Windows
NT-based computers.
5. Provides remote procedure call (RPC) based
communications.
6. Supports TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBEUI, Async RAS,
and ISDN communication protocols.
7. Offers a chat feature for communicating with
connected users.
8. Supports audio conversations across a standard
network.
9. Enables remote installation support of agent on
Windows NT.
10 Provides encryption of transmitted keystrokes.
11. Allows for multiple-viewer connections.
12. Includes zoom functionality for desktop
manageability.
13. Allows thumbnail viewing for slower connections.
14. Enables display-resolution matching.
15. Offers color scaling between connected systems.
____________
KNOWN ISSUES
1. Remote Desktop 32 does not support Graphic Device
Interface (GDI) hooking on agents running
Windows NT 4.0 due to changes made to the GDI
between NT 3.51 and NT 4.0.
2. Remote Desktop 32 does not support full-screen
DOS applications from the Remote Desktop Controller.
Pressing ALT+ENTER will toggle the MS-DOS Prompt
window between full-screen and windowed views.
Keystrokes are also transmitted from the Remote
Desktop Controller to the MS-DOS Prompt window when
in full-screen or windowed mode.
3. If you perform a remote installation to an NT agent
and install to a drive that is not available on the
installing system (when, for example, the agent has a
D: drive and the controller only has a C: drive),
the resulting icons will be default Windows
icons, not the Remote Desktop product-specific icons.
4. If you send a CTRL-ALT-DEL sequence from the controller
to an NT agent, you may not be able to enter
keystrokes on the agent because the CTRL+ALT+DEL key
sequence will not be completely cleared. If this
occurs, press the CTRL and ALT keys individually
on the agent or the controller during an active
session to reset the key buffers.
5. When the CTRL+ESC key sequence is sent to an NT
agent, the Task List will be displayed. When the
CTRL+ESC key sequence is sent to a Windows 95 agent,
the Start button will be activated.
6. When the system is rebooted after installation,
the Remote Desktop program group will
be located behind all other program groups.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Regularly updated lists of frequently asked questions
about McAfee products also are available on McAfee's
BBS, website, and CompuServe and AOL forums.
Q: Does Remote Desktop 32 operate over computers
that are directly connected with a cable?
A: Yes if the cable is connected to the serial port
and configured as a null modem. It does not support
a direct connection through the parallel port.
Q: How can I determine who I can control over
the network?
A: Remote Desktop's agent does not broadcast the
names of computers available for control over the network.
Specific names of systems available for control must
be known before a connection can be established. The
name or identity of a computer system can be determined
on a Windows 95 system by highlighting Network Neighborhood,
right-clicking and selecting Properties and looking
under the Identification tab or by using the Browse button
on the Controller Connect dialog.
Q: How do I make a phone connection to Remote
Desktop 32?
A: Remote Desktop will operate over the Windows 95
or NT dialer. A phone connection can be established
using this native feature within Windows 95 or NT.
The receiving system should be set up to answer a call
using the RAS server feature within Windows 95
or NT.
Q: Is it possible to use only Novell Client 32
network drivers for Windows 95 with Remote
Desktop 32?
A: We've found that connections may not work between
controllers and agents running only Novell
Client 32 network drivers. McAfee recommends
that you install the Microsoft client for
Microsoft networks and make sure that it is bound
to the IPX/SPX protocol.
Q: I am running two Pentium computers and the
connection is good. How can I increase performance?
A: Remote connections work best with Named Pipes as
the transport layer. In order to use Named Pipes,
the agent must be running Windows NT, and you
must have TCP/IP protocol installed and configured
on both ends of the connection. Additionally, speed
can be improved by making the following modifications
on the agent system.
Note: Obtain permission from the agent system's
owner before making modifications.
* Reduce the number of colors used on the agent.
* Remove bitmaps from the desktop background.
* Reduce the resolution of the desktop.
Q: When I attempt to reboot the agent computer
from the controller, the RESTART SYSTEM
selection on the File menu is always greyed
out. What am I doing wrong?
A: Remote Restart of a system is a feature of
NT. Therefore, this option is only
supported when both sides of the connection
are running Windows NT.
Q: I am controlling a Windows NT 3.51 system.
The system has just booted up, and I am
connected. After using the Ctrl+Alt+Del
button on the controller to get past the initial
screen on the agent, I am unable to enter the
password on the agent system. What should I do?
A: Remote Desktop will send the Ctrl+Alt+Del
sequence to the agent system. Occasionally,
the Ctrl or Alt keys on the controller are not
properly sent, thus disabling further keyboard
entry from the controller. If you encounter this
situation, press the Ctrl and Alt keys individually
on the controller or agent during an active session
to reset these keys.
Q: My controller is Windows 3.51. Whenever I try to
transfer files, File Manager appears on my
controller with no further dialogs displayed.
Is this normal?
A: Remote Desktop uses native Windows features to
facilitate file transfer. It neither compromises
system security nor adds an additional layer of
overhead. If the controller uses a Windows
Explorer shell (Windows 95 or NT 4.0), then file
transfer will open a browse dialog to show the
shares currently available on the agent. In
Windows NT 3.51, Remote Desktop will simply
open the File Manager, leaving the user to
browse to the necessary share.
